When is the right time for a child’s first visit to the dentist?
The answer is very clear. From 6 months of life, with the emergence of the first milk tooth.
“For what reasons is it necessary to send the baby so “early” for check-ups?” it is the most common question of mothers.
It is very simple to understand that the emergence of the first tooth changes the bacterial status in the child’s mouth, and from that moment the conditions are created for all potential problems, just like in adults. For this reason, by brushing your baby’s teeth appropriately, you remove plaque, deposits and bacteria after eating food and prevent the emergence of potential problems at an early age.
The health of milk teeth is equally important to us as the health of permanent teeth, even though the child loses them at some point in early childhood and the dentition changes.
Why is it so?
Because the health of baby teeth directly affects the health of the entire oral cavity as well as the proper development of the child.
Because the health of baby teeth affects the health of future permanent teeth.
Rotten milk teeth can lead to very unpleasant consequences in a small child because, like in adults, untreated caries leads to nerve disease, potential abscesses, i.e. purulent and painful inflammations on the tooth and in the bone where the embryos of permanent teeth are located.
In addition to all the above reasons, we take into account the importance of the child’s regular visits to the dentist from the earliest days, both for noticing potential problems in time, and for gradually getting the child used to the environment, the doctor, and the dentist’s chair.
Once the child acquires the habit and trust, if a problem occurs, it will be easier to solve.
However, by visiting the dentist on time, your child will never be in a situation for stressful dental interventions.
